Core artist: Justin Allen

I am a London-based live artist and curator, and the founder of Switch Performance. My practice is an ongoing investigation into human connection, intimacy and taboo. I am particularly interested in the borders of the public and private, often testing the limits through live interaction. In my work I risk vulnerability and exposure to make a connection, leading to the creation of tender shared moments for individuals and small groups.

I have shown work in galleries, theatres and clubs in London and the UK including Chelsea Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre, Torture Garden, Duckie and Fierce! I have also created work online. I have collaborated with and worked alongside a range of artists including Rajni Shah, Ewelina Kolaczek, Nor, Kira O'Reilly and Rachel Parry. I have twice received funding from Arts Council England, including a recent award for research and development. I am using this funding to explore the possibilities of the Internet and the stage as spaces for connection and intimacy.
